Displaying cottages near Little Strickland.

Little Strickland self catering cottages are located about 7 miles south of the Cumbrian market town of Penrith, set in green fields and the rolling hills that lead from the higher peaks of the Lake District, a few miles to the West. Little Strickland is an ideal location for visiting Lakeland, with Haweswater just a few minutes drive away. Here, as well as the lake itself, walking enthusiasts will enjoy fantastic hiking opportunities across the High Street range of fells. This part of the Lake District is not as often visited as the main tourist areas, meaning you can enjoy a quieter, relaxing time exploring the rugged fellsides and observing the great views across the Lakes and across to the Eden Valley.

Little Strickland holiday cottages are handy for exploring all of the Lake District, with Windermere and Keswick great days out to be experienced, while walkers can get easily to any of the fells for a days' walking. Another advantage is the proximity of Penrith, a market town with a nice, friendly feel, with good shops to buy local produce, restaurants, pubs and cafes and the supermarkets you may need to stock up for your self catering holiday! Also close by is the town of Appleby, which boasts a castle, medieval buildings and pleasant little shops and other amenities. Appleby also lies on the Settle to Carlisle Railway line, which is a great way to experience a walk in the Yorkshire Dales - and all doable in a day trip from Little Strickland self catering cottages.

Alternative places to stay include Bomby holiday cottage near Bampton, a little close to Haweswater, Penrith self catering cottages and the lovely holiday properties in Askham we have available. All benefit from the great, relaxing and beautiful location of East Cumbria, which is easy to get to and so worthwhile to explore. The Lake District, the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales, three areas that aren't too bad to have on your doorstep!
